My Lord,

Referring to Mr. Hewlett's disp. 214 of the 29th ultimo last, I have the honour to forward for E.E.'s Information, copy of a despatch received from H.E. the Governor of Hongkong, together with a copy of Hewlett's reply thereto, on the subject of the alleged criminals whose rendition was applied for by the Viceroy of Canton.

Copies of these Correspondence has been already forwarded to H.M.'s Minister and is now submitting them for E.E.'s consideration, & would respectfully request to be furnished with definite instructions as to the course H.E. should adopt in the matter.
